Health inspectors give Basingstoke hospital kitchen top marks

Kitchen staff at Basingstoke hospital celebrate being given a level five rating by environmental health inspectors


Environmental health officers awarded the kitchen level five rating, the highest possible rating, after making an unannounced visit earlier this month.

Sally-Ann Jones, catering business and project manager at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Basingstoke hospital, said: “We are delighted to have achieved a level five rating, which proves that our kitchen is both hygienic and safe.

“I hope that the rating offers patients, staff and visitors reassurance that our food is prepared and served safely and would like to say a big well done to all of the staff who make this possible.”

Environmental health officers carried out a thorough inspection of the premises, observed staff at work and checked paperwork to ensure that food is prepared, cooked and served in line with safety laws, the kitchen is clean and equipment is in good condition.
