Adult Safeguarding

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is committed to the protection of adults who may be at risk of abuse or neglect. The Care Act 2014 places statutory duties on organisations including NHS Trusts to work together to protect adults who may be at risk of abuse or neglect. As part of our commitment and duty, we are guided by the Hampshire Multi Agency Safeguarding Policy as well as having our own internal policies and procedures.

All of our staff and volunteers receive training to equip them with the necessary skills to identify safeguarding concerns and respond to them appropriately.

The lead agency for Adult Safeguarding is Adult Services, whom we work very closely with to ensure our patients are protected against abuse or neglect. Where there is a concern that a patient may have been the victim of abuse of neglect, the priority will always be their immediate safety. The wishes and views of the individual will be listened to and where possible acted upon.

If you have any concerns that anybody you care for or care about has been abused or neglected, (or if you feel that you may have been a victim) please speak to a member of staff within the hospital. Your concern will be taken seriously. Alternatively, you can report your concerns directly to Adult Services. Adult Services can be contacted both Basingstoke and Winchester hospital sites via the main switchboard.
