D1 (Elective Orthopaedics)

Our patients are admitted for a wide range of planned surgery, including total hip and knee replacements, spinal surgery, ligament reconstruction and ‘keyhole’ arthroscopy surgery on joints.

Routine tests are carried out at our pre-assessment clinic shortly before the planned date of surgery. Patients electing to have total hip and knee replacements also attend our ‘Education Clinic’ where they are given information and exercises to help them both before and after their operation.

Our orthopaedic team includes nurses, doctors, physiotherapist and occupational therapists. Our vision is to provide top quality, professional care, delivered in a friendly and welcoming way in an organised, clean, and safe environment.

We actively promote independence, mobility, and activity and as soon as is safely possible, our patients are discharged home.

Our staff are encouraged to keep updated with modern trends and research in the orthopaedic area. Research-based practice enhances the quality of care given and projects are ongoing within the ward.
