This unit is staffed with a multi flexible team of registered nurses, Operating Department Practitioners and Health Care Assistants. We are committed to offer you quality care and excellent customer service, ensuring a comfortable and positive experience within the DTC.

 

Location and Parking

The DTC is situated between the Sherborne Building and the main Hospital building, with parking at either of the main on-site car parks.

There are no parking spaces directly outside the DTC as the area has to be kept clear for emergency access. However, there are disabled parking spaces in the front of the Hospital and the Sherborne Building. 

Patients with mobility issues who are worried about parking should contact Anna Slater or Tracy Parker on 01256 313332.

 

Main Specialties

The DTC covers most specialities.

It has four theatres providing elective surgery and private patient services for:-

  • Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT)
  • Gynaecology
  • General Surgery
  • Orthopaedics
  • Colorectal
  • Urology
  • Oral Facial
  • Paediatrics

  • Cosmetic Surgery


Also three Endoscopy theatres providing:-

  • Endoscopy for in / out patients
  • Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
  • Bronchoscopy
  • Bowel Cancer Screening
  • Colonoscopy
  • Gastroscopy
  • Percutenous Jejunial Gastrostomy Feeding Tube (P.E.G)
  • Capsule Endoscopy


Most patients are day surgery only; we do have a ward for overnight stays.

Please note that while the DTC houses the Candover Suite for private patients, this is separate to the DTC. If you need to contact the Candover Suite, call 01256 315010 or visit the Candover Clinic website.

The Diagnosis and Treatment Centre (DTC) seeks to provide the highest possible standard of both nursing and medical care.

Our mission and focus is to provide exceptional health care services. We will adopt a ‘holistic’ approach to care that acknowledges and respects an individual’s dignity, cultural and spiritual beliefs. Our dedicated trained professionals will deliver care that is tailored to each patient’s unique needs and preferences.

Whilst respecting confidentiality and autonomy, we will strive to ensure that all relevant information is afforded to both patients and their carers. This should encompass a ‘multi-disciplinary’ approach, in an environment that encourages appropriate, open discussion and clear explanation.

In order to maintain the highest possible standards of care, the management of the DTC recognise that it is necessary to maintain an environment conducive to learning across the multi-disciplinary team. All staff will adopt a professional approach to the delivery of care demanded by their respective professional bodies.

Due to a new telephone system, there is a change to the options you choose when contacting the DTC.

Please listen carefully to the four options available – if you are querying an appointment or have been referred for a procedure and you have not heard anything please choose option 1 for the Booking team. Then listen to the further two options and choose the appropriate option as per your letter. This line is open from 10am -4pm.
