Patient and Public Involvement

Your views on all our services are very important to us.

Patient and public involvement is central to planning changes to services within the Foundation Trust and we want your help to drive service improvements. We encourage participation through

  • developing good communications with its local community
  • providing patients and public with information to make informed choices about their care
  • working in partnership with patients and the broader community to make decisions about service improvement

The interests of patients are also reflected within the Patient and Public Involvement Group (PPIG), a group comprised of members of the public and patients. The PPIG meets regularly with the Foundation Trust and the meetings are an opportunity for information and concerns to be exchanged and discussed.

The Foundation Trust has a good working relationship with NHS Hampshire, its main commissioner, and works collaboratively with local authority partners at district and county level, both through the Council of Governors and as a key member of the Local Strategic Partnership.

Members are invited to contribute views in a number of ways including via their local Public, Staff or Stakeholder Governor who serve on the Council of Governors. The Governors have a number of joint subgroups with the Foundation Trust including Patient Experience and Care Quality Commission registration and these groups provide a forum for members’ views to be put forward. Members and the public also have the opportunity to attend health events in their constituency and our annual members meeting, both of which provide an opportunity to discuss a wide range of topics with the Foundation Trust. Members also receive regular newsletters.

What can you do to be involved?

There are a number of ways you can be involved or provide feedback on the hospital services:
