Our Staff

Our staff are fundamental to our ability to deliver a high quality service. Investing in their training and development is one of our highest priorities.

Our aim is to ensure our staff have the training and development opportunities to enable them to provide safe, effective, high quality care to our patients.

We recognise our staff's dedication and commitment, and support their health and wellbeing.

We hold our HHFT Director of Nursing Awards ceremony to recognise the work of nurses, midwives and therapists, and their teams.

We run monthly WOW! Awards to recognise staff who go the extra mile. We now receive around 100 nominations every month from colleagues and patiens who wanted to recognise a staff member's dedication.

Our staff are encouraged to innovate and improve patient care

Steve Tremarco

Fire Officer Steve Tremarco developed a fire evacuation mattress which is now produced by a commercial company. The mattress, in use in all our hospitals, has built-in straps to aid evacuation in case of fire.

Philippa Aslett is a senior urology nurse specialist and in 2013 she became president of the British Association of Urology Nurses. Philippa has travelled to Washington DC to receive a Literary Excellence Award from the Society of Urologic Nourses and Associates. At HHFT nurses undertake flexible cyctoscopy, urodynamics and prostate ultrasound and biopsy. We are also able to give chemotherapy for bladder cancer, using new and innovative techniques such as thermotherapy.

All of our staff are Foundation Trust members

As a Foundation Trust we are directly accountable to our local community through a system of local ownership with members and elected governors. Members play an important role in ensuring the Foundation Trust listens to the needs of its local communities.
