Rachel - Dementia specialist nurse

"I feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to be part of the work HHFT is doing to support patients with dementia and their families and carers. The educational programme I attended has given me the knowledge to be able to fulfil my role and to successfully make a positive change to dementia care."

Rachel HaydenRachel is a specialist dementia nurse. She attended the Leadership Education Programme provided by the University of Worcester where she was able to gain an in depth understanding of caring for people with dementia, taking account of an individual's needs, and how this could be used at HHFT.

Rachel has been responsible for many innovations to support patients with dementia across the Foundation Trust. This has included introducing a volunteer scheme in partnership with the RVS and planned reminiscence pods and tea afternoons to help patients feel more comfortable, relaxed and able to communicate.
