Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT), which runs hospitals in Andover, Basingstoke and Winchester, is offering an exciting opportunity for members of the local community to learn about the trust’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic at the trust’s latest virtual event.

At 6:30pm on Monday 26 April 2021, members of the local community are invited to hear from Dr Avneet Shahi and clinical matrons Sarah Gold and Natalie Doney as they reflect on how they responded to the pandemic and what was learned along the way in their respective teams in microbiology, critical care and the newly-created COVID swabbing team.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask the speakers questions in real time.

The event is free and open to all members of the public and Foundation Trust members. Alex Whitfield, chief executive at HHFT will join the speakers to share a brief update on the trust.

Between them, the speakers have been at the centre of innovation at HHFT with COVID-19 testing, cared for some of the trust’s most critically ill patients over the last year, and developed a new service ensuring symptomatic staff can be tested as quickly as possible to keep colleagues and patients safe.

Alex Whitfield, chief executive at Hampshire Hospitals, said: “I’m very excited to offer this opportunity to open our doors, however virtually, to give our community first-hand insight into the incredible work of our teams over the last year.

“As we are now one year on from the beginning of our COVID-19 journey, this offers a great opportunity for our staff to share their experiences of caring for patients and to share some of the things we have learned – I look forward to seeing you there!”
