Introducing our new research strategy!

I’m very pleased to announce that we are launching our new research strategy.

As part of our trust vision to provide outstanding care for every patient our Research Strategy aims to improve the health and wellbeing of our community by engaging healthcare professionals, patients, carers, students and the public in the design and delivery of health care research.

Research benefits everyone, breakthroughs enable earlier diagnosis, more effective treatments, prevention of ill health and better outcomes for all. We know that research focused Hospitals and staff offer better care to their patients and it’s our patients that are at the heart of this strategy. However, research also helps us develop personally and is known to improve job satisfaction.

This strategy has been built on feedback from patients, staff, partners, stakeholders and the wider community and we aim to continue to build a fully functional research unit and culture across the trust to improve evidenced based healthcare locally, nationally and internationally. It will help us empower, train and support our staff as well as increase our capacity to offer more of our patients access to research, across all services.

You don’t need to be employed as a researcher to get involved in research either. Understanding what research is, what’s happening at the trust and being able to talk to colleagues and patients about it is important to building that culture and access for everyone. We always welcome your input. Please contact research.team@hhft.nhs.uk if you would like to contribute.
