After completing her house jobs in the North East she moved to the South West to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine and secured a place on the ACCS training programme before completing her Higher Specialist Training in Emergency Medicine with the Peninsular Deanery. Following a Paediatric Emergency Medicine placement at Bristol Children’s Hospital as an ST3, Dr Bates developed an interest in this area. In 2013-2014 she completed a year of sub-specialty training, again with Bristol Childrens Hospital leading to registration with the GMC as a Consultant in Emergency Medicine with subspecialty interest in Paediatric Emergency Medicine
