Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are in the process of reviewing all patients on our waiting list for planned surgery. This is part of a national review instructed by NHSI/E. The need to create capacity to care for COVID-19 patients at our hospitals has led to non-emergency care being postponed and our waiting lists have grown as a result. It may take some time before services fully recover.
We want to do everything we can to see and treat people fairly and safely within the quickest possible time, so our clinical teams are currently reviewing our waiting lists in order for those with the greatest clinical need are prioritised. We want to reassure our patients that despite the delays caused by COVID, we have not forgotten about you and that you are still in our systems.
We are contacting patients via text message and letters to ask them about their preferences regarding their surgery. Please do respond to these texts and letters as this will help us ensure that we understand your medical needs and agree the next steps for your treatment.
We are sorry that your surgery has been delayed, and thank you for your patience during this difficult time.
