Starlight Summer Panto cast bring sunshine to young patients at Royal Hampshire County Hospital

robinson crusoe pantoStarlight Children’s Foundation brought a big dose of sunshine to poorly children at Royal Hampshire County Hospitalwhen its pop-up Robinson Crusoe pantomime cast paid a visit. 

Starlight is national charity that grants wishes for seriously and terminally ill children and provides entertainment in hospitals and hospices across the UK.  During an eight week tour, the Starlight Summer Panto will visit children’s wards throughout the country and the cast popped in to Northbrook Childrens Ward at Royal Hampshire County Hospital on Saturday 2 August.

Hampshire Hospitals Chief Executive Mary Edwards said: “We aim to provide excellent care for all our patients and we know that play can significantly help to improve a child’s hospital experience. We were very pleased to welcome Starlight’s Summer Panto characters to give our young patients a chance to simply have some fun.”

Neil Swan, Chief Executive of Starlight Children’s Foundation, said: “All of Starlight’s activities are aimed at distracting children from the pain and anxiety that they might be feeling as a result of their illness and Starlight’s Summer Panto is always hugely popular with hospitals and hospices alike. We hope that the visit from our pantomime cast was just what the doctor ordered!”
