The phlebotomy service at Hampshire Hospitals on all sites is an appointment-only service. 

Blood tests can only be done once you have been referred by a clinician. You are unable to self-refer.

You can book your appointment via the 24-hour automated telephone service or book online using the links below.

If you are booking for a child 16 and under please see the additional information for children below. 

If you are booking a genetics blood test at Basingstoke or Winchester hospitals, please ensure your appointment is booked for before 3pm Monday to Thursday. If you are booking a genetics appointment at Andover Hospital, please book your appointment prior to 10am Monday to Thursday. 

Genetics blood tests are not available on Fridays.

Important information 

Where possible, patients should attend their appointment unaccompanied. Where this is not possible only one person should attend with the patient and children should not be brought on site unless unavoidable.

At Hampshire Hospitals, we are trying to reduce our plastic consumption, consequently there is no longer a water dispenser on our Andover site. We would encourage all patients to bring your own water when attending for appointments and there are free water dispensers available in the restaurants for re-fills.

Choose which hospital you require for your blood test appointment.

‘Sign up' to enter your details and create a password. When using ‘autofill’, please remove any extra spaces at the end of your email address. 

You can enter your date of birth by selecting year, month and day and choose ‘GP other’ 

Once completed, ‘log in’ to book, change, cancel your appointments.

4 and under - We have a specialist children's unit called Sophies Place - please contact them for details - 01962 824223.

Basingstoke

12 and under - We have a specialist children's unit called Charlie's Day Unit (CDU) -  Please contact them for details - 01256 314760, between 9am - 1pm Monday to Friday

Is there a walk-in service? 

No. Hampshire Hospitals runs an appointment only service. 

How far in advance can I book? 

You can book up to 3 months in advance using the online booking forms or the 24 hour automated telephone line. 

Can I speak to a someone? 

There is a booking team available Monday to Friday 9am to 4.30pm (excluding bank holidays). Call 01256 314751 and select option 2. Lines can get very busy so please be patient. 

Is there parking? 

Yes. Parking is available at each hospital. Please click here for details of parking. Disabled parking is available to blue badge holders at all sites. 

Are there translation services?

If tranlsation services are required, please advise at the time of booking. 

Useful information

Polite Notice - Phlebotomy Service Update:

Please be advised that numbing spray is no longer available as part of our phlebotomy service.

For those who would prefer a numbing option, we recommend EMLA cream, which provides effective, long-lasting numbing.

This should be applied to the inside of both elbows up to 1 hour before your appointment. This can be purchased over the counter at most pharmacies or prescribed by your GP.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
