Care Quality Commission

The Care Quality Commission works to promote improvements in the quality of healthcare and public health in England and Wales.  Every year to the end of April 2010 they have carried out an annual health check of the NHS.  As a hospital we are required to make a declaration against nationally agreed core standards that apply across the NHS in areas identified as being of real importance to patients and the public.  These include safety, cleanliness, the quality of the clinical care that patients receive, and whether they are treated with dignity and respect.

Below is a link to our declaration against the core standards, which makes up part of our annual rating for the quality of our services.  We are also rated according to the quality of our financial management.  Last year Basingstoke and North Hampshire NHS Foundation Trust has been rated Good for quality of services and Excellent for quality of financial management.

If you want to know more about how the Care Quality Commission rates trusts and compare ratings of different hospitals, please go to the Care Quality Commission website.
