Staff pay and grading structures

The majority of staff within the NHS have contracts based on Agenda for Change national terms and conditions.  This is the single pay system in operation within the NHS. It applies to all directly employed NHS staff with the exception of doctors, dentists, very senior managers (optional) and directors.

Terms and conditions of service for hospital doctors and dentists are covered under a separate scheme entitled Medical and Dental.

Pay circulars for NHS staff including medical and dental, are published by NHS Employers.

Executive directors contracts are based on local terms and conditions. Details of Directors Remuneration can be found in the Annual Reports.
