Welcome to our clinical strategy for 2022 – 2028!
This strategy will provide a focal point for the trusts thinking, shape our decision making and ensure we stay on course to achieve our vision of delivering outstanding care to every patient.
As always, we are underpinned by our CARE values - being Compassionate, Accountable, Respectful and Encouraging.
This strategy has been developed by our clinical and operational teams as well as with extensive involvement from our patients. It is focused on you, the community we serve. This is the case whether you are a patient, carer, relative, member of staff or colleague in our local care system. Together, we aim to ensure every patient can access the right care, at the right time, in the right place, delivered by the right healthcare professional - every time.
So much has changed since our last clinical strategy was launched in 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic has called for a response unlike anything any of us have seen before. Despite this, our staff have continued to go above and beyond to provide care in some of the most challenging circumstances imaginable. Out of all of this has come an incredible amount of learning and even some opportunities, both of which are included here.
Collaboration is more important than ever. In the last two years we have seen the sheer scale and power of what can be achieved when the NHS comes together as one. We are taking this approach forward into our ambitious strategy, challenging ourselves to work differently and to embrace new ideas.
Since our last clinical strategy Hampshire Hospitals has been confirmed as part of the government’s new hospitals programme, meaning that by the end of the decade we will have a new hospital for Hampshire. We have also continued to invest in new equipment, training, and digital infrastructure.
There are of course obstacles to overcome. Our services are busier than ever before, we have a growing and ageing population, and resources continue to be stretched. However, working together, we are ready for the challenge.
I want to thank everyone who has played a part in putting this strategy together, and to every member of HHFT and beyond who will turn these plans into a reality.
Best Wishes,
Alex Whitfield, chief executive
