Patients, staff and local communities can now help shape Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s new five-year strategy as a two-month engagement exercise is launched.
The new strategy will set out the Trust’s priorities for the future, guiding how it delivers care for patients, supports its workforce and works with partners to improve health outcomes across North and Mid Hampshire.
The Trust’s strategic refresh comes after the Government’s recently published 10-Year Health Plan, which sets a national direction for delivering care closer to home, embracing digital-first services, and prioritising prevention. Locally, Hampshire Hospitals is also responding to challenges that include rising demand on services, ageing population and buildings, workforce pressures as well as the need for long-term financial sustainability.
People can have their say by completing the online questionnaire or by attending an upcoming workshop before Saturday 15 November at midday.
The engagement asks questions focused on a variety of themes and topics, such as technology use, safety in hospital, innovation and staying well.
The launch comes as Chief Executive Alex Whitfield prepares to step down at the end of October, with Sue Harriman, the current Chief Executive at Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board, set to join in the coming weeks.
Alex says: “This is an important moment for Hampshire Hospitals. We want to build a strategy that is ambitious, realistic and centred around what matters most to our patients, our colleagues and our communities.
“With Sue joining the Trust shortly and the national direction clearly set, now is the right time to ask our colleagues and communities what they want us to prioritise and enable us to do the right things for the people we serve, both now and for years to come.”
The Trust will use feedback to inform decision-making and priority setting, with the final strategy due to be published in the winter.
