It has revolutionised the way that Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) staff do their training – and now the innovative Green Brain scheme is in the running for three national awards.

Green Brain is up for honours in the Improving Outcomes, and Estates, Facilities and Systems Management, and Workforce Initiative of the Year categories at the prestigious Leading Healthcare Awards 2020.

Sponsored by CCube Solutions, the awards celebrate, and share, great work across the health and care sectors. The winners will be announced from 6pm on Thursday, April 2 through a suitably innovative digital awards evening, which is still going ahead online despite the Coronavirus outbreak.

Green Brain, a bespoke learning management system, was created with the help and input of HHFT staff. It has enabled HHFT to increase the accessibility of all trust core mandatory training via face-to-face training, and has enhanced the accessibility of e-learning. This has resulted in a sharp increase in HHFT’s overall compliance rates.

Tania Griffiths, HHFT Associate Director of Training and Operations, said: “By creating Green Brain, we have enabled staff to be empowered and engaged in a system they helped to create.

“By introducing a different way of learning, we have safeguarded and enhanced staff and patient safety. Green Brain implementation has transformed training at HHFT, making it easy, fun, and person-friendly.

“The success achieved so far within HHFT is allowing us to showcase Green Brain to other hospital trusts that have seen our successes in terms of engagement and staff involvement towards mandatory training and being empowered.”

Tania added: “The HHFT team are proud, and delighted, to be among the shortlisted finalists at the Leading Healthcare Awards 2020. We are honoured to be in such good company with the other finalists, and are looking forward to April 2.”
