The vaccination hub at the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital is to transition to the next phase of the COVID booster campaign Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust from today.

This move will see the trust moving from its current role operating a walk-in service, to one focused on inpatients and other vulnerable groups. The wider NHS, led by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System, will continue the mass public roll out which has seen over 1 million booster jabs given since December 2021.

Residents in Basingstoke will continue to be able to receive their vaccination from Jameson House, Chineham Court in Basingstoke, Fastfare pharmacy and Superdrug pharmacy in Basingstoke. A full list of the locations available across Hampshire and Isle of Wight is available here.

Dr Lara Alloway, chief medical officer at Hampshire Hospitals said:

“It has been a real honour for us to be able to support the national booster campaign so directly and to have been able to help so many people.

“The staff involved have achieved incredible things – not least setting it up in under 96 hours! – and I cannot thank them enough for what has been an incredible achievement.”

Though the trust is now moving to phase two it will retain the ability to rapidly stand back up the public hub as the processes, equipment and personal will remain on active standby.
