A shared commitment to putting patient care first and strong teamworking continue to shape culture at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as shown in the national 2025 NHS Staff Survey results published today.

A record number of individuals across the Trust, which runs hospitals in Andover, Basingstoke and Winchester, took part in the survey, providing valuable insight into staff experience and what it’s like to work at the organisation.

The NHS Staff Survey is run every year across the country, with every staff member invited to anonymously share their experience of working at their organisation and within the NHS. The survey is designed to help NHS organisations improve patient and staff experience. Image 2 - NHS Staff Survey.jpg

Questions are based around themes within the NHS People Promise, including safety, learning, flexibility and recognition as well as engagement and morale.

Hampshire Hospitals has improved or maintained its scores against the previous year in seven of the nine theme areas, scoring highest in compassion and inclusivity. When compared to the results of other similar NHS Trusts, Hampshire Hospitals has scored above the average in every theme area.

More than 90% of staff report that care of patients is the organisation’s top priority and that they feel they are able to make a real difference to patients.

While the survey highlights important strengths across the Trust, it also provides clear feedback to help shape improvements for the year ahead.

Tim Powell, Chief People Officer, says: “These results really represent the dedication of our fantastic teams and the pride they have in caring for our patients – our people really are our strongest asset. It’s encouraging to see strong scores, and improved scores, in a lot of areas but this doesn’t take away from the fact that we have work to do to make Hampshire Hospitals an even better place to work and receive care.  Image 3 - NHS Staff Survey.jpg

“Our focus now is on listening, acting and working with our colleagues to make improvements that matter most to them, based on what we’ve heard. Every year, the survey results enable us to learn and continually improve.”
