The next phase of the process that will result in a new hospital to serve north and mid Hampshire is taking place over the course of the coming weeks. 
As part of the Hampshire Together: Modernising our Hospitals and Health Services programme, a wide range of people are being invited to take part in a pair of workshops that will play a part in helping to decide the options that will be taken forward for consideration by the public during consultation.
A spokesperson for the Hampshire Together programme said: “Now that the period of formal public engagement has come to an end, we are beginning the next phase of public involvement in the process, which is about generating and appraising options for consideration during consultation.
“We will be seeking the views of a wide range of people, including current patients with experience of using hospital services, clinicians and representatives of people from various groups within the community we serve.
“This advisory group will help us to identify and prioritise options for a new way of delivering hospital services in a new building, as well as the location of the new hospital. No final decisions will be reached, but the feedback received will help us to scope and define the options that are taken forward.
“In order to meet the timelines for accessing Government funding under the Health Infrastructure Plan, we are holding these workshops in the coming weeks and are really excited to see what emerges from them.”
The Hampshire Together: Modernising our Hospitals and Health Services programme involves NHS and social care providers across Alton, Andover, Basingstoke, Eastleigh, Winchester and the surrounding areas. It is being led by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Partnership of Clinical Commissioning Groups and West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group, in partnership with Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The programme includes the construction of a brand new hospital as part of the Government’s Health Infrastructure Plan – but its impact will reach far beyond the walls of this new building, involving GPs, mental health, community care, social care and the wider voluntary sector, as well as acute hospital care.
