A significant milestone has been reached in the construction of a new MRI building at Andover War Memorial Hospital, which will improve community access to innovative diagnostic imaging services.
Colleagues from Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust joined supporters and the project contractors as part of a ground-breaking celebration event at the site recently, with works now underway to create the new building.
The purpose-built facility will become the latest part of the Andover Community Diagnostic Centre, designed to provide better and more efficient patient access to scans, as well as an enhanced patient experience. It will feature a new MRI scanner alongside an existing CT building, as well as a modern reception and clinical areas.
Construction to deliver the MRI building will continue throughout this summer, with an expected opening date set for later this year.
Alex Whitfield, Chief Executive Officer at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This valuable new addition to our Andover Community Diagnostic Centre will make a real difference to so many of our patients, improving access to diagnostic imaging and offering an even greater patient experience using the latest technology.
“We’re looking forward to be able to open the doors to this fantastic facility very soon – a big thank you to all our colleagues and partners who have enabled us to reach this major milestone.”
