On 5 July 2023, the NHS celebrates 75 years!

Founded in 1948, the NHS was the first universal health system to be available to all, free at the point of delivery. Since then, the NHS has innovated and adapted to meet the needs of each generation. Every day, the NHS treats over a million people in England.

HHFT history
As we mark 75 years of the NHS, we’re looking back on the history and achievements of our organisation – including staff and volunteers – and the opportunities that lie ahead to shape the future of the NHS.

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust came into being in January 2012 as a result of the integration of Basingstoke and North Hampshire NHS Foundation Trust, which achieved Foundation Trust status in 2006, and Winchester and Eastleigh Healthcare Trust. HHFT serves a population of approximately 600,000 people across Hampshire and parts of west Berkshire.

How you can get involved

‘Wear It Blue’ on Friday 7 July!
Dig out your favourite blue top or pull on some blue socks for Wear It Blue. To support our charity, we would appreciate it if you could make online a small donation to Hampshire Hospitals Charity for taking part. Wearing it blue is a great, fun opportunity to celebrate and recognise your local NHS services whilst raising all-important funds. You can find out more on how to donate via the JustGiving page

Parkrun for the NHS
On Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 July (junior parkrun), the nation are being encouraged to parkrun for the NHS. It’s a free community 5k walk, jog or run held up and down the country every Saturday, but this time it’s for the NHS. We’re inviting you to get together with your friends or colleagues and join your local parkrun for one day only! Simply head to the parkrun website and register to join in.
