Nominations are soon to be closing for the Junior Doctor Awards, which celebrate the commitment, expertise and compassion of junior doctors working across Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Award winners from last year’s Junior Doctor Awards..jpg

The awards are an opportunity for patients, their families and visitors, as well as colleagues, to show their gratitude for the outstanding work junior doctors do every day across the trust, by giving them the chance to win a special award.

Nominations mean more than ever, as they continue to go above and beyond to respond to the current COVID-19 pandemic, and work tirelessly to care for their patients.

The Junior Doctor Awards are open to all junior doctors who deliver care across Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s three hospitals, Andover War Memorial Hospital, Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital and Royal Hampshire County Hospital, in Winchester.

Anyone can submit a nomination by completing the online nomination form available at www.hampshirehospitals.nhs.uk/juniordoctorawards. Nominations close on 15 May 2020.

Daniel Cadoux-Hudson, one of the trust’s chief registrars, said: “After the success of last year’s event, the Junior Doctor Awards are back for a second year and we are all very excited. Nominations are closing soon, and we understand times are difficult at the moment, but we still want to encourage patients, colleagues and families to submit their nominations to show their gratitude for all of the junior doctors working across the trust.

“There are 10 awards that junior doctors can be nominated for, and I hope everyone will take the time to show their appreciation for the hard work junior doctors contribute to our trust every day. We look forward to receiving their nominations and hearing about how our team have made a difference.”

Dr Lara Alloway, chief medical officer at Hampshire Hospitals, said: “I am so proud of how our junior doctors have stepped up to the current challenges, so early on in their medical careers, so am very excited about the 2020 Junior Doctor Awards where we can take a moment to celebrate everything they do.

“Nominating a doctor for an award is a fantastic way for everyone to be able to recognise the outstanding contribution that many of our doctors make to patient care, team work and our organisation that is above and beyond.

"We know how important saying thank you to our colleagues is and this is a really good way to do just that.”

Due to the closing of public places and adhering to the national guidance on social distancing, the winners will be announced across the Hampshire Hospitals’ social media channels and website in June.
