As part of the next phase of works to support the building of the new Urgent Treatment Centre at our Winchester hospital, we will be carrying out piling works from 08:00 on Tuesday 25 August until 13:00 on Thursday 27 August. These works involve the installation of long structural elements called piles to transfer building loads to stronger soil or rock layers below surface ground.
As a result, a partial temporary road closure on Carter's Crescent will in place for periods in the afternoons on these days to allow movement of the piling rig and positioning of vehicles. Every effort is being made to reduce disruption and impact on site activity and disturbance to building users. Service users have made alternate plans for this period and contingent plans to reopen the road for emergency access will be maintained throughout.
