Hampshire Hosptials have referred a potential breach in recent board papers to the Information Comissioner's Office.

Malcolm Ace, chief financial officer and Senior Information Risk Officer for Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “The privacy of our patients is of the utmost importance to the trust and we are taking this matter very seriously.

"While no names or addresses were shared, in view of the sensitive nature of the information, we have referred it to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as a potential breach of the Data Protection Act 2018. We will act quickly on any and all recommendations given by the ICO.

"We apologise for any distress caused. The two women whose experiences were noted in the report are being contacted by our team, and support is being offered to them.”
