What is the acute oncology service?
The Acute Oncology Service (AOS) is a team of specialist nurses who work in both Basingstoke and Winchester hospitals.
Within our Acute Oncology team we also have a clinical fellow, junior doctors and a physicians associate.
We can assist with advice or input about complications of your cancer diagnosis or treatment.
We are available to support you with assessment and urgent advice 24/7.
How can the acute oncology team help?
We help you by offering assessment and urgent advice 24/7 if you become unwell due to:
- Complications related to your cancer diagnosis.
- Complications or side effects related to your cancer treatment.
When is the service available?
Acute Oncology Specialist Nurses: are available 8am - 6pm, Monday to Friday on both sites, excluding bank holidays.
Out of hours: There is always a trained nurse who takes responsibility for answering the 24/7 mobile for both sites. Ensuring access to specialist advice 24/7, every day of the year.
