What is the Acute Oncology Service?

Our Acute Oncology Service is a specialized multidisciplinary healthcare team who provide rapid assessment, diagnosis, and urgent care for cancer patients who experience sudden complications of their disease or treatment.

Our vision is to ensure patients have access to urgent oncological advice and assessment 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year and that this is delivered safely, effectively and compassionately.

How can the Acute Oncology Service help you?

We have two dedicated acute oncology clinical spaces, one within the Greenham Centre at Basingstoke and The other on the Nick Jonas Unit at Winchester hospital.

We can help you with complications related to your cancer diagnosis or side effects related to your cancer treatment.

When is Acute Oncology Service available?

If following telephone triage, you could benefit from a face to face review we will invite you in to see us Monday – Friday (excluding bank holidays) between 8am-6pm.

We encourage patients to call rather than self-present to our units, as soon as they experience new changes or symptoms, to avoid delays on subsequent treatment or need for hospital admission.
