Wessex ward is a haematology inpatient unit, consisting of 10 private side rooms. We are a diverse multidisciplinary team of nurses, healthcare assistants, physio, dietitians and medical team. We are passionate about providing high standard, holistic care through a time that be stressful for both patients and families. We work in partnership with patients and their families, ensuring that the patient feels comfortable and able to express their needs.

We are located within the Candover Suite in the DTC, providing a clean and bright environment for your care. We provide a safe environment with Covid 19 measures remaining in place to protect our often vulnerable patients. We encourage visitors by booking appointments and will involve them in your care as you wish.

We aim to provide high quality care to anyone requiring investigation or having treatment for a haematological cancer. This involves the multi-disiplinary team facilitating a timely diagnosis and decision making of treatment. Our team provides evidence based anti-cancer treatments in the form of chemotherapy as well as specialist palliative care and psychological support. We actively support the improvement of cancer care by working closely with the clinical research team.

We facilitate the development of individual team members, creating a positive learning environment. We also have strong links with University Hospital Southampton, the regional cancer centre.
