Our aim is to provide the highest possible quality of care to both our local population and patients travelling from out of area for our specialised services.
As part of the general surgery department the colorectal service provides care for both elective patients and those admitted as emergencies. Our service has a broad range including:
- Emergency care / Surgery
- Elective care / Surgery
- Cancer care / Surgery
- Laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery
- Tertiary referral centre for Peritoneal surface disease
- Management of low rectal cancer
- Endoscopy
- Outpatients
- Stoma care
The colorectal service has close links in working practice and through multi-disciplinary team meetings (MDT’s) with an extensive range of services through out the hospital and Central South Coast Cancer Network (CSCCN). Some of these include:
- Medical and clinical oncology
- Gastroenterology / Endoscopy
- National Bowel Screening Programme
- Palliative care
- Pelican Foundation
- Hepatobiliary service
