If your dermatologist has prescribed you Isotretinoin, you should soon receive an appointment with the Isotretinoin monitoring nurse.
Please read the information below and any given to you during your appointment in order to familiarise yourself with the process of the monitoring clinic and the medication.
- Once you start a course of Isotretinoin, you will have an appointment every month if female, and every two months if you are male.
- The nurse will support you through your treatment and monitor your progress, including any side-effects you are experiencing.
- Female patients on Isotretinoin are expected to participate in the Pregnancy Prevention Programme and will need to produce a negative pregnancy test before receiving a further month of medication.
- All patients taking Isotretinoin will require a blood test prior to starting the course and another six weeks in to taking the medication.
- The nurse monitoring you will be available if you have queries or concerns for the duration of your course.
