About one in 6 couples may experience difficulties in conceiving. There are fertility services on both sites led and managed by consultants with specialist expertise; Mrs Renee Behrens in Winchester and Mr Hammed Tijani in Basingstoke. Your GP can refer you to this service if you have not been able to conceive after one year of trying or in some cases earlier if there are concerns. Your GP should request initial investigations prior to referral.
We are able to offer investigations to identify an underlying cause as well as surgery if indicated to investigate or improve fertility outcomes. In women who are not ovulating we offer ovulation induction with monitoring of response.
Provision for NHS funded IVF varies across the UK and is determined by the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to which your GP is associated. The criteria are determined by your local CCG and this is subject to change. There is separate criteria that applies to those serving in the Armed Forces. All applications for funding must have completed investigations and be completed by an NHS fertility specialist.
