
Please introduce yourself, your job title, how long you've been in your current role, and how long you've worked at HHFT? Hi, my name is Clare, and I am the Quality Improvement (QI) Lead for the Family & Clinical Support Services Division. I have been in the Improvement Team since 2015 and in my current role within the team for nearly 2 years. I have worked at HHFT for over 19 years now. How do you explain your role in the QI team to those that may be unfamiliar with Quality Improvement? My role is to support staff with all things Quality Improvement. Whether that is explaining what it is, providing bespoke training sessions, 1:1 or group QI support, coaching or sometimes just being a safe, friendly listening ear. How did you end up where you are now? What has your career journey looked like up to this point? I am an Occupational Therapist and having led a multi-disciplinary service for a period of time, which went through significant change, I discovered that I really enjoyed Improvement work. I was lucky to be offered a place to complete a Quality Improvement Fellowship with Health Education Wessex in 2014-2015. Since then, I have completed various roles within the different versions of the Improvement Team, but have always ensured I have maintained a clear clinical focus in the work I am involved in. In my time at HHFT, I’ve also previously been a FTSU Guardian and a Staff Governor. What has been a highlight for you at work recently? I really love getting to meet and work with so many different people in so many different teams and roles. Being able to provide support/advice to help them to improve things for their patients and their teams is a constant highlight for me. What would you say to someone who was curious about Quality Improvement and how the tools/methodology could help them in their roles, but were unsure of where to start? Come and have a chat.
