Hampshire Hospitals has opened the doors to a new Orthopaedic Outpatients Department expansion, based at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester.
This new facility will provide seven consultation rooms with a designated room for dressings; a co-located plain film x-ray service; and four fracture clinic assessment booths with an adjacent plaster room.
The Orthopaedic Outpatient Department provides consultation, diagnostics, examination, and treatment services. Activites delivered include:
- Specialist advice and support, clinical consultation, diagnosis, and treatment planning and delivery for orthopaedic patients.
- Therapy consultation, diagnosis and treatment in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary Allied Health team, including physiotherapy and occupational therapy
- Application and removal of plaster casts and orthoses
Alongside the Orthopaedic Outpatients Department, Hampshire Hospitals recently opened the doors to a new Hampshire Orthopaedic Centre (HOC), also based at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester.
Running five days a week, with consultants from both Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and University Hospital Southampton operating at the facility, the new HOC links closely to the Orthopaedic Outpatients Department, with patients being seen here following their operation in the HOC.
