Working closely with the ophthalmic consultants we provide a hospital service for a wide range of patients of all ages such as:

Children with:

  • Squints – cosmetic or symptomatic

  • Lazy eyes (Amblyopia)
  • Abnormal eye movements

Adults with:

  • Diplopia (double vision) and blurred vision which can be caused by a wide range of conditions affecting the eyes including diabetes, stroke and thyroid eye disease.

Patients may be treated with glasses, prisms, patches or exercises. Some patients may also need surgery.

We provide a secondary screening service for babies and children referred by school nurses, health visitors, GP's and other health professionals with concerns about squint, eye movement disorders and visual problems.

We work closely with emergency eye services in our trust to accept and see patients who require rapid assessment for eye conditions which have given the patient sudden debilitating symptoms.  Please speak to your GP to access how to see us.
