The Peritoneal Malignancy Institute (PMI) Basingstoke hosts the National Peritoneal Mesothelioma Multidisciplinary Team (NMDT), a specialist team with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of peritoneal mesothelioma.
If your hospital team feels that a specialist opinion would be helpful, they can refer your case to the NMDT. The team reviews your medical information, including scans and pathology results, and provides recommendations on diagnosis, treatment options, and clinical trial opportunities.
What Happens Next?
The NMDT meets twice a month. Once your case has been reviewed, the recommendations will be sent to your local hospital team, who will discuss the outcome and next steps with you.
Not all patients will need to attend an appointment in Basingstoke. Many patients receive specialist advice through the MDT review alone and continue their care locally. If the team feels you would benefit from being seen at PMI Basingstoke, we will contact you directly.
Questions About Your Referral
If you have any questions about your referral, please speak to your hospital team. They will be able to provide updates and discuss the outcome of the specialist review with you.
