The Respiratory Physiology department is a healthcare science profession that carries out a wide range of routine and advanced breathing tests. These tests provide vital data for the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of many respiratory conditions treated at our hospitals.

Routine Testing 

  • Full Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs)
    • Spirometry 
    • Gas transfer 
    • Static lung volumes
  • Reversibility testing 
  • Fraction of exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO)

 

Advanced Diagnostics 

  • Bronchial Challenge Test (methacholine/mannitol)

  • Skin Prick Test (Allergy)

  • Capillary Blood Gas Measurement

  • Cardiopulmonary Exercise Test (CPET)

  • Hypoxic Challenge Test

  • Respiratory Muscle Assessment

     

Andover Community Diagnostic Centre

  • Smoother referral system, GPs able to refer patients directly
  • Reduces travel needs to the larger hospitals such as Basingstoke and Winchester
  • Offering FeNO, Spirometry and Reversibility

  1. Do you have a translation service?  
    If translation services are required, please advise at the time of booking your appointment 
     
  2. Can I bring or request a chaperone?
    If a chaperone is required (usually a nurse or another member of the health care team) please advise at the time of booking your appointment. Friends and family members are welcome to attend the appointment with you.
     
  3. What are you opening times?
    Between the hours of 8:30am and 5pm.
     
  4. How do I get my results?
    This will depend on who referred you. Your GP/Consultant may arrange a follow up appointment or write to you. 
     
  5. Is there parking on site?
    Yes. Parking is available at each hospital. Please click here for details of parking. Disabled parking is available to blue badge holders at all sites.
