Dr Bates attended the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne where she was awarded MB BS in 2004. After completing her house jobs in the North East she moved to the South West to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine and secured a place on the ACCS training programme before completing her Higher Specialist Training in Emergency Medicine with the Peninsular Deanery. Following a Paediatric Emergency Medicine placement at Bristol Children’s Hospital as an ST3, Dr Bates developed an interest in this area. In 2013-2014 she completed a year of sub-specialty training, again with Bristol Childrens Hospital leading to registration with the GMC as a Consultant in Emergency Medicine with subspecialty interest in Paediatric Emergency Medicine
