Training and education:
Completed medical training gaining honours in 1990 and went on to do extensive post-graduate training in London, working at both Hammersmith and St Mary’s Hospitals. During this time she spent three years working in the Hammersmith In-Vitro Fertilisation Unit and completed research in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and Fertility.
A further two-year surgical fellowship in minimal access (laparoscopic and hysteroscopic) surgery led to accreditation in this area by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Also accreditated in ultrasound scanning.
Awarded the MD degree from the University of London for research into Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
Experience:
Mrs Renee Behrens has been a Consultant Gynaecologist at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital since March 2008. She runs the Fertility service at Winchester, offers advanced minimal access surgery and established the early pregnancy unit, a service dealing with complications of early pregnancy. She is the lead for Gynaecology, Fertility and Clinical Director for Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Trust. Deputy Clinical Director Women’s Health. She has previously served as College Tutor overseeing postgraduate education for trainees in Obstetrics and gynaecology as well as Lead for gynaecology for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight integrated care board and Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust. She currently provides appraisals for doctors as part of their annual re accreditation.
Research:
I remain involved in research and was an investigator in the national multi-centre HEALTH study from 2014 – 2017 and Principal Investigator for the GEM3 study (2016 – 2020).
