Training and education
Dr Bloomfield read Medical Sciences at the University of Oxford (First Class Honours) and graduated in Clinical Medicine with Distinction from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’, London. He completed higher specialist training in Anaesthetics with advanced training in Pain Medicine, and is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Faculty of Pain Medicine. He was selected for the inaugural NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme and has used the experience gained here to pursue innovation and ongoing service improvement.
Experience
Dr Bloomfield is a Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthetics at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He diagnoses and treats a wide range of pain conditions—including complex back and neuropathic pain, migraines, fibromyalgia and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS)—using a holistic, multidisciplinary approach. Where appropriate, he offers targeted interventional procedures. Committed to innovation, he uses emerging technologies, including AI and virtual reality, to support assessment, education and rehabilitation and to improve patients’ pain journeys. Dr Bloomfield also provides anaesthetic care for the spectrum of care offered throughout the hospital and provides emergency out of hours care as part of the anaesthetic on-call rota.
