Toby Briant-Evans qualified from Nottingham University Medical School in 1999. After completing basic surgical training in London and the South West, his Orthopaedic Specialist Registrar training was in the Wessex Region. During this time he completed a trauma fellowship in Denver, Colorado and a year’s arthroplasty fellowship in Auckland, New Zealand.
Having completed his training in 2012, he was appointed as specialist hip arthroplasty fellow at North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke, in addition to an honorary fellowship at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford where he gained experience in more complex revision hip and knee surgery and lower limb reconstruction. He was appointed as a substantive Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in April 2014, with his NHS work being split between Basingstoke and Winchester.
He has an interest in hip and knee research and enhanced recovery after surgery, having published and presented internationally in these areas. He continues to teach locally and as a faculty member on courses at SouthamptonUniversity and the Royal Society of Medicine in London.
