Dr Mark Cassar (MD, PhD, MRCP) is a consultant cardiologist with expertise in all aspects of general cardiology.

Originally from Malta, where he gained his doctorate in medicine and surgery from the University of Malta, Dr Cassar completed his Cardiology Specialty Training in Reading and Oxford, gaining comprehensive experience in all aspects of general cardiology while subspecialising in advanced cardiac imaging.

In 2024, he was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Sciences from the University of Oxford where he conducted groundbreaking research on the long-term cardiac effects of COVID-19.

Dr Cassar is recognised as a leading expert in cardiac imaging including echocardiography, cardiac CT, and cardiac MRI; he also has specialist expertise in valvular heart disease and preventive cardiology.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr Cassar remains active in cardiovascular research, contributing to our understanding of:

  • Heart valve disease mechanisms.
  • Advanced cardiac imaging techniques.
