Mr Greenwood trained in medicine at University College London, qualifying in 1991. Following early postgraduate training in London, he obtained his first appointment in ophthalmology in Basingstoke in 1993. He then completed his ophthalmic training in London, at the Western Eye Hospital, St Thomas’ Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital. Mr Greenwood completed a fellowship in anterior segment surgery at Moorfields, a specialist discipline which includes cataract surgery, anterior segment surgery and refractive surgery. In addition to clinical commitments, Mr Greenwood is an educational supervisor to foundation year trainees.
Mr Greenwood is a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a member of the United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He is also a member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and an international member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. In addition to his appointment at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, he practices independently at the Hampshire Clinic in Basingstoke.
Outside medicine, Mr Greenwood enjoys travel and has an interest in motorsport and aviation.
