Medical Retina with a special focus on diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular conditions, cataract surgery and laser treatments.
Training and education:
Miss Gunasekera graduated from Cambridge University Medical School in 2002. Following specialist ophthalmology training in the Oxford deanery, she has undertaken postgraduate subspecialist training in Medical Retina at Moorfields Eye Hospital. She was appointed as a consultant ophthalmologist at Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital in 2016.

Experience:
Miss Gunasekera leads the Medical Retina service at Basingstoke Hospital and is a named clinical supervisor for ophthalmology specialist trainees in the department. She is clinical lead of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Diabetic Eye Screening Program.
