Dr Helen Hayward, Associate Specialist, Palliative Medicine
Training and Education
I am responsible for Southampton University final year medical student teaching in Palliative Medicine for the studuents on placement at Hampshire Hospitals. I am also involved in the training of any trainee doctors who work as part of the palliative care team.
I have been involved in adhoc training and education of other health professionals such as GP's, CNS's and nursing home staff.
I have helped to coordinate an in house training programme for the hospice inpatient team and I currently organise regular education sessions for our weekend doctors.
Experience
I have worked in palliative medicine since 2004 and gained my CCT in 2009. Having worked as a specialty doctor since then, I became an Associate specialist in 2018.
