Experience:
I was appointed as Substantive Consultant Physician at Royal Hampshire County Hospital since 2019 and have a breadth of medical clinical experience at Senior level. I manage complex medical cases on the wards and my outpatient work consists mainly of general endocrinology. I manage Pituitary, Adrenal, Thyroid and Parathyroid disorders as well as hypogonadism, lipid disorder and diabetic foot disease. I also lead the inpatient diabetes ward round on a rota basis.
For the first 5 years of my consultant life at RHCH, I worked 50% as an Acute Physician providing Senior decision making on acutely unwell medical patients. I also held the position of Clinical Governance Lead for Acute Medicine from 2019 to 2025.
I am passionate about training and education and thus hold the position of Clerkship Director for internal medicine placement for St Georges Medical students during their 12-week placement with our hospital. For Southampton University medical students, I give a termly lecture on overview of Diabetes and I am a named ACC assessor. For our post-graduation trainees, I am both Clinical supervisor and Educational supervisor for all grades from FY1 to Specialist Registrar. I am now also a recognised MRCP PACES examiner and attend local Royal College networking events and updates. I have also held the position of College Tutor for the RCP from 2020 to 2023.
