Additional information and comments

Dr Scheuermann-Freestone joined the Cardiology team as Consultant in January 2012.

Before coming to the UK in 2000, she had done her undergraduate training in Heidelberg and Berlin, Germany, where she also did an MD during her studies.

Having transferred to the UK, she did a PhD in Oxford in Cardiac MR Imaging and in Biochemistry, before training as a Specialist Registrar in the Wessex region, spending time in the hospitals in Basingstoke, Winchester, Salisbury and Southampton. In Southampton, she held the post of the first Cardiac Imaging Fellow in echo, stress echo, 3D TOE and cardiac MRI and CT.

Since she joined the trust, she has been working in General Cardiology, looking after the coronary care ward and the other wards, and is running outpatient clinics in General Cardiology. She is also head for Cardiac Imaging at the Hampshire Hospitals, overseeing all echo and stress echo investigations as well as performing cardiac MRI and CT.

She is passionate about teaching and is an honorary lecturer at KingstonUniversity. She is well known in the national and international world of cardiac imaging and has presented at numerous national and international conferences.
