Dr Thomas trained in Medicine at Oxford University, and St Bartholomews Medical School, London, after completing a PhD thesis in Molecular Virology at Oxford University.
Her registrar training was at Imperial College, in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology.
Research interests include HIV/Hepatitis C co-infection, resistance in gram negatives, new laboratory diagnostics and hospital epidemiology.
She has worked at Consultant level since 2005, beginning at Imperial College NHS Trust, London, before her appointment at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
She has worked abroad in Cambodia, Malawi, and spent 2 years in Singapore, as a Senior Consultant in Infectious Diseases, and General Medicine, at the Singapore General Hospital.
Clinical interests include management of infectious diseases, tropical and travel medicine, global health, hospital epidemiology and infection prevention and control.
