I am one of two consultants providing specialist management for patients with diabetes (Type 1, Type 2 and other types) and endocrine disorders (especially thyroid, parathyroid, pituitary, adrenal and gonadal disease).
We work closely with a team of specialist nurses, dieticians and podiatrists via weekly out-patient clinics, and oversee the care of diabetic / endocrine in-patients in conjunction with them and our junior doctor colleagues. We have specialist links with Southampton, Oxford and London hospitals.
I also participate in the on-call rota for unselected emergency medical admissions, and see a range of general medical out-patient referrals.
