You have the right to feel valued and to be treated equally with dignity and respect. The nurses and doctors will help you in making choices about your health and your treatment. If you want, your carer or a trusted friend can be with you when you talk to the doctor.
Mencap have some useful information on their website about mental capacity and how hospital staff can make reasonable adjustments during your time in hospital.
You also have the right to ask for a yearly health check at your GP surgery. The check is done to make sure you are healthy and that you are getting the right help with your health.
